What are Tool Time Readings?

Readings are a group of observations. Any information captured on readings will automatically be applied to all observations within that reading.

What are Tool Time Observations?

Tool Time observations are point in time observations of a crew and are used to establish a site-wide tool time percentage to identify common barriers to productivity. These are used to identify trends on the site, not to monitor users.

The following information is observed:

  • Project

  • Observer

  • Date Observed

  • Company

  • Work Center

  • Discipline

  • Unit

  • Area

  • Activities being performed and the number of persons performing them

How do Tool Time Observations Affect You?

If you are performing field work, you may be observed. Your name and the crew’s name will not be recorded.

Why Take Tool Time Observations?

Tool Time observations are used for benchmarking and identifying trends. For example, if individuals are continually being held up by equipment availability, Tool Time Observations may identify this trend and allow the company to purchase more equipment or position it more strategically.
