What are Tool Time Observations?

Readings are a group of observations. Any information captured on readings will automatically be applied to all observations within that reading.

What are Tool Time Observations?

Tool Time observations are point in time observations of a crew and are used to establish a site-wide tool time percentage to identify common barriers to productivity. These are used to identify trends on the site, not to monitor users.

The following information is observed:

  • Project

  • Observer

  • Date Observed

  • Company

  • Discipline

  • Unit

  • Area

  • Activities being performed and the number of persons performing them

Once enough observations are taken, O3 is able to provide a statistically significant estimate of what percentage of working hours are spent on Tool Time to assist in enabling productivity.

Manually

Tool Time Readings can be manually entered at the project level by selecting tool time readings from the Project Information tab.

To add a new reading, select Add.

Enter the relevant information and select Save.

Remember, any information captured on the reading will be applied to the observations within that reading.

Once the reading is created, you can start adding observations.

To add a new observation, select Add

Enter the relevant information.

Once you have completed your observation, select Save & New, which will prompt a popup for a new observation.

OR

Save, which will save your work and take you back to the reading details screen.

To clone a reading, click the action button and select Clone Reading.

Cloning a reading applies any reading details to a new reading.

By Import

Tool Time Readings can be imported from a flat file using the Tool Time Readings Import in Imports under the Tools menu.

To start an import, select Add.

Select the Import Type of Tool Time Observations. Use the Select File button to browse to the file. Select Begin Import to import the file.
