While this article applies to multiple work package types, we use Installation Work Packages as an example.
Note: you must have admin access to configure Execution Task Types.
Navigation
In the left-side menu, select (1) Project Settings > (2) Entity Settings > (3) IWPs.
Then select the Execution Task Types tab.
Click on the + sign above the grid to create an Execution Task Type.
Rate of Placement & Execution Task Steps
When creating an Execution Task, you can specify how many Units are being installed.
If you set a Rate of Placement, O3 will calculate your task's Estimated Hours as the following:
Rate of Placement * Units
You can break your task down into Execution Task Steps towards the bottom.
Note: always make sure your weights add up to 100.
When marking off a task step, your Earned Hours will be updated proportionally to the step's weight and the task's Estimated Hours.
You can also associate your task's steps to specific colors.
These will be used when visualizing execution progress in the model.
To learn more about this, click here.
You can restrict Execution Task Types to IWPs of a specific purpose with Available Purposes. This means they can only be added to IWPs with the given Purpose.
Auto Created Execution Tasks
Execution Tasks can be auto created when adding components to an Installation Work Package. You will need to configure the following fields:
Auto Create PurposeComponent TypeObject Type
Execution Task's will be auto created when the following criteria are met:
IWP's
Purpose=Auto Create PurposeComponent's
Component Type= Execution Task'sComponent TypeComponent's
Object Type= Execution Task'sObject Type
You can also specify which tasks are auto created by going to going to Component Filter Rules at the bottom.
And clicking Add Item.
After (1) expanding the arrow, you can specify your (2) Auto Create Purposes and the (3) filtered criteria for them to be automatically added.
Manpower Requirements
With Manpower Requirements, you can tie different Manpower Types to your Execution Task Types.
In the example above, whenever this Execution Task Type is used, a Boiler Maker will be allocated to my IWP under Resources > Manpower.
Its Estimated Hours will be Hours Per Task Hour * the task's Estimated Hours.
