This article explains the various features of the O3 query tile widgets and how they can be used to display a single value on a dashboard.

Basics

Query tiles are available for many data streams in O3. The example below is an IWP Query Tile, which, by default, shows the number of IWPs in a project.

To configure the query tile, select the Action menu in the upper right-hand corner of the tile.

Select Settings.

The widget settings dialog window is displayed as shown below.

Common Settings

  • Title - allows you to adjust the title that is displayed on top of the dashboard widget

  • Value - select the measurement that will be displayed as a number on the Query Tile

  • Default Color - adjusts the background color of the Query Tile widget when conditional formatting rules are not in effect

  • Alignment - adjusts the alignment of the text within the tile

Changing the Value

To change the Value represented in the tile, click in the Search field below the Value heading.

Click on a value name to select it. For this example, we will select Earned Hours (Sum). After saving, the chart adjusts to show the Earned Hours (Sum) for each Area.

Note: You may need to resize the widget for large numbers. See Basic Dashboard Operations for more information or resizing widgets.

Conditional Formatting Rules Options

Conditional formatting rules are used to adjust the color of the Query Tile Widget based on the value it is measuring.

To add a conditional formatting rule, click the Conditional Formatting Rules heading on the widget settings dialog to open the panel.

Select Add Rule.

Multiple rules can be added to the same widget. Each rule uses the same fields as shown below.

Common Settings

  • Condition Field - allows the user to choose the conditional statement for a value - equals, does NOT equal, is greater than, is greater than or equal, is less than, or is less than or equal - with the value in the middle field as the reference

  • Value Field - stores the reference value for the condition

  • Color - selects the background color of the Query Tile Widget when the statement is true for the displayed value

  • Delete Button - allows the user to remove unwanted rules

The results of this rule are shown in the query tile below.

When multiple conditional formatting rules are true, the conditional formatting rule listed first will control the color. The order of conditional formatting rules can be adjusted by dragging and dropping the rules using the drag and drop tool highlighted below.

The results of this priority change are shown on the widget below.

Filters

See Filtering Widget Data to learn how to apply filters to O3 dashboard widgets.

Drill Down Options

The Query Tile widget also supports the ability to customize the drill down option. This determines to where you will navigate within O3 when you click within the query tile.

Dashboard

The Dashboard option allows you to select a dashboard to which you will navigate when you click within the query tile.

Source Data

This is the default option within settings. Selecting Source Data will take you to the source data associated with the query when you click within the query tile. You can also specify a layout type to further customize your view.

None

Selecting the drill down option of None disables the drill down option within the query tile all together.
