Using the materials tab, you can associate materials and components to your work packages.

While you can tie materials and components to multiple work package types, this article uses IWPs as an example.

This article assumes you have the appropriate permissions for creating/editing work packages. Please confirm this with your Project Admin before reading on.

Navigating to The Materials Tab

Click on Work Packages > Installation (IWPs) in the left-side navigation menu, then double-click an IWP in the grid.

In the Detailed Form, click on the Materials tab.

Tying Materials to Work Packages

With Materials selected on the left side, click on the + icon above the grid.

  1. The Material Catalog field pulls from data stored in Project Information > Material Catalog.

  2. Material Category is a project-level lookup field that must be configured by your Project Admin.

  3. Clicking Create at the bottom of the menu with Create Another enabled will add the material requirement and automatically bring up a new form.

Material Category by convention is typically used to group materials by characteristic or use, while the Material Catalogue is the full list of materials to be used.

The process of tying a component to a work package is similar.

In the Components tab, click on the + icon and select all the components you'd like to add from the grid.

This data is pulled from Project Information > Construction Components.

You can add components individually or in bulk by clicking the checkboxes on the left-hand side.
